I wore this outfit for a busy day last week! It started with the Karen Millen event at Bloomingdale's (pictures below), and then two appointments across town. I love the idea of wearing lavender pants with dark neutrals like the inspiration photo. I recently picked up this 100% silk camp shirt from MJR Sales (my fourth one, I looove these shirts) and couldn't wait to take it for a spin. Would you wear lavender pants?

ReplyDeleteEverytime you wear those shirts, I kick myself for not discovering MJR sales sooner! I like the lavender and black combo ( and yes, I would definitely wear lavendar pants!) and I love your shoes!

I think lavendar pants are really adorable. I would wear them with neutral colors or with light pastel ones that looks great.

omg first of all you look FABULOUS. love the lavender and dark neutral combination. BUT THOSE SHOES --- do you know the style name? they are AMAZING. i am hunting everywhere (including MJR sales and VS website) but can't track them down!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I've had these shoes for awhile and can't remember the name - I do know they are sold out on VS, and they are the only company (plus MJR) that sells Colin Stuart. These shoes are inspired by a very expensive pair of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, so you could try finding those on sale? Sorry I can't be more help!
ReplyDelete4th silk camp shirts?!?! I've been on MJR sales daily since you first debuted the pink one and I haven't been able to even find one (non-white). Did you get them all at one time, or are you really just having better luck than I am?
ReplyDeletethose lavender pants are so cute....and I love that dress you're wearing even more!

I, too, love your lavender pants. Actually, I'm obsessed with this entire outfit! Hope you had tons of fun at the Karen Millen event. The clothes are beautiful.

Thank you for the info and quick reply! I'll keep hunting. LOVE your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteKate, I've procured 4 of theses shirts over the course of 1.5 years. I almost always see at least one up for grabs when I am on there though. How are you searching? Don't use the search box, instead use the controls on the top left to narrow down your search. So, I would narrow your search to only tops, then select (Regular) under "Size Type" to get rid of plus size, and then look at everything that way. It's a treasure hunt, good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat dark shirt with the lavender pants is one of your best combos ever--the shoes are perfect with the outfit, as well. And yes, if I could find lavender pants that fit my hips and quads and didn't gape a ton at the waist, I would definitely wear them to death!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the colorful pants and the shoes -- and the fact that they're so cheap. I've been looking at similar skinny jeans but the ones I'm finding are so expensive. I want to buy your entire outfit!
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE I would wear lavender pants! I don't think you could stop me! I am in love with these silk camp shirts right now. Must find more!

I don't know about jeans, but I would totally rock lavender shorts or a skirt. I love this look with the loose silky blouse. So cute!
ReplyDeleteSteam that blouse, chica!! (Guess I'm the only hater.)
ReplyDeleteYour outfit makes me want to buy a pair of lavender pants. I have mint & red but I think lavender would be a nice addition :)

That's the thing about 100% silk - gorgeous material, but no matter how much you steam it, it's never perfect! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love how you paired your lilac jeans. I have pair and paired it with an mint top and dark blazer in one of my outfit posts. Your suggestion has just inspired me to pair it with my darker tops. Thanks J :)

I have a question about something I see in your lavendar/black combo that I've seen in other outfits. Your shirt: I've noticed that you frequently tuck in only the front of your shirt. Do you feel this is something that all body types can do? Or can it quickly turn "messy" looking?
ReplyDeleteGreat question. I don't think the sloppy tuck is for absolutely everyone, or for every outfit. (I personally love this look b/c it often will show off my belt when I'm wearing one, but I like having my shirt cover my bum.) Fashion is all about rolling with the punches - so I would recommend trying it sometime with an outfit and seeing how it looks! It's all about trial and error. :-)

Skimmed through your blog and love it! We own a few of the same items (gold boat shoes:) And your style is close to mine! I also majored in Literature/Journalism and I've also had a career or ups and downs! And I am a budget-minded fashionista too :)
ReplyDeleteI meant "of" ups and downs. (Good writer, bad typist)
ReplyDeleteYour photo’s are always so
ReplyDeletegorgeous! This blog is perfect (:
I love this J! I have lavender pants and love them. I have been wearing them with a creme floral top, but I just remembered I have a black top that would work too. Thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteI was searching by "silk camp" or through Moda and Famous Catalog, but still no luck. Oh well, it will make it that much better when I finally find one. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with this look. The shirt is stunning, the pants feel so spring and the shoes absolutely complement the entire look. It's sexy and chic at the same time. I have to say it again: the shoes go sooo well with this outfit.
