I spent the day with a personal shopping client on Wednesday and this is what I wore! She recently lost her baby weight after 2 kids, had a $1,000 budget, and was pretty much starting from scratch. I wore this outfit for a couple reasons - one, whenever I'm representing my business, I try to wear something "creative." I also wore this for comfort. The flats were a must for all the walking, and the crossbody bag allowed me to have both hands free so I could carry more clothing. One unfortunate downside to this outfit, though - between the weight from the strap on my purse and the giant necklace, it scuffed up my shirt, and I think it might be ruined. :-( (Good thing there are so many cute replacements below!) What do you wear when you go shopping? Are you digging the candy stripes trend?

Morning! I love this outfit and am sad your shirt may be ruined from that statement necklace! That shirt is so cute on you! :( I love the colors and love the cross body bag also for a day of shopping! I guess since it was c/o, it is not such a big deal, but it is still cute. Maybe you can just save it for days where you wear a cute jacket over top of it?

Love that necklace! And these striped tops are amazing! So perfect for weekend casual or for work dressed up with a blazer and pencil skirt!
ReplyDeleteI love all things stripes so I'm thrilled to see them in color! Great necklace!

Thanks Pip! The shirt was only $6, so easy enough to replace and also a lesson on getting what you pay for. :-) I can wear this shirt again, I'll just need to wear a big necklace to cover the scuffs!
ReplyDeleteLove this look! Perfect outfit for a day of shopping. The necklace is cute as well.
ReplyDeleteBummer about the shirt. It's sooo cute! And yes, I'm down with the candy stripe trend. In fact, I was looking at one yesterday!

I wish you were closer to me! You are such a creative person and I would love to hire you to shop with me...
ReplyDeleteSUCH a great outfit. i am loving those colors!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the shirt. I hate when stuff like that happens.
ReplyDeleteIt never occurs to me to wear a skirt shopping. But then again, I tend to shop alone. I always wear comfy flats, and try to keep my clothing simple so I can easily change in the dressing rooms. I also skip makeup so I don't damage the clothing, and keep the jewelry to a bare minimum.
Too funny, I have always heard you should wear makeup shopping, so that you look somewhat appealing under the harsh lights. Jewelry can also come in handy - you can immediately see if a statement necklace will work if you are trying on a shirt, for example! :-)
DeleteI would love to see a post on what your client bought. I think it would helpful to know what items a wardrobe should begin with!
ReplyDeleteI have a surprise concerning this in about a month! :-) Stay tuned.
DeleteWhen I go shopping, I try to wear clothing that I wear most days so I can see how it works with my clothes. Always a black or white tank, simple jeans and easy to get out and into shoes. And a crossbody bag is a must!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I find this outfit a bit busy. I think it would have looked great with a simple colored t-shirt to draw attention to that great necklace!
I love the colors in your outfit! I'm a jewelry designer, and I've loved using the tangerine colors in my work, both as the main color and as an accent. Your necklace is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI also have bought SEVERAL multi-color striped tops this season. I like to check JC Penney, which I haven't noticed that you mention often. This season I bought kelly green ankle pants for $30, a cobalt button-up for $15, and a stripe top in blue/black/white/lime for $15. Also cobalt cardigan for $15 and pink cardi for $12. They have reduced prices each month on select items perfect for the season.
When I shop I always have the crossbody bag to keep hands free, and usually a skirt or dress. That way I can try on bottoms without removing too much clothing. Of course, I usually end up trying both tops and bottoms, but the skirt is sooo comfortable.
Did you mean to say that I do mention JcPenney often? It is one of the shopping options in today's post! :-)
DeleteI like wearing flat sandals, it makes the walking easier. I always forget about a cross body purse to free both hands.

I agree. A simple white t-shirt would look awesome with that skirt and necklace. Otherwise, it's a *lot* to take in.
ReplyDeleteThis could be one of my favorite outfits. Love the colors!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a surprise regarding this coming up in about a month! Stay tuned. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane! Did you mean to say that I do mention JcPenney often? It's one of the shopping options in this post today (and pretty often on other days too!).
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-) I have also heard the opposite about makeup - you should wear some so that you look appealing in the harsh lighting. Makes total sense to not wear it for smudging reasons though. And jewelry can actually come in handy - you can see how a shirt will look w. a statement necklace, for example!
ReplyDeleteI am liking the candy stripes thing...actually purchased a cute dress
ReplyDeleteoff the clearance rack recently with the candy stripe thing going
on...would not have bought it without the confirmation from a friend
that it was a great buy- have had many compliments on it when wearing
I would love to see a post on what your client bought. I think it would helpful to know what items a wardrobe should begin with!
ReplyDeleteYou honestly just *glow* in these colors, J. ............ i.e., the colors of a desert sunset!!
ReplyDelete'Hope your striped shirt is "salvageable." When the same type of thing has happened to me, (i.e., from my purse strap, with the material at the shoulder of a top/blouse), I usually think "all is hopeless," but after gently washing my top/blouse, it often - not always - then is really difficult to actually *see* any scuffs, at all. (The Miracle Of Water on fibers, I guess, haha!!)
Wouldn't it be kind of *neat* if manufacturers of purses would, say, offer an Adjustable/Detachable Cross-Body *SHOPPING* Strap............ simply BY ITSELF, to just switch-out with a plain strap, (as on your gorgeous Melie Bianco purse)............ but with some type of traditional or contemporary design "tooled or embossed" right ONTO the strap............ so that when you go shopping, you wouldn't necessarily HAVE to wear a necklace, because your Cross-Body S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G. Strap............ would be "decorated"; and could, therefore............ just "stand-in" AS a necklace??
Thanks Rosanna! I washed it, but it is still pretty scuffed. Planning to try one of those sweater shavers next. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the Bloomindale's shirt. Where do think I could kind a less expensive version of it? I love the vertical stripes. I just don't wear horizontal striped very well.
ReplyDeleteThat shirt is crazy dope. Love
the cap too!!! Great look from this view
That
ReplyDeletejacket is a great piece!
I love the photography, the
clarity, the colours, the focusing. It's beautiful. Looks like a really fun day
out.

ReplyDeleteI love the candy stripe trend! I found a cute version on sale at Loft a couple of weeks ago and almost didn't get it because I felt like it was too "loud" for me...but then I thought of you, and decided to take a risk and get it! I got so many compliments the next day :) thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thanks for sharing! I am a big fan of this trend/outfit, and happy I could inspire you to take the plunge.
ReplyDeleteGreat color combo. I'm for any type of stripes!
