Last week I re-created a trendy Jessica Alba look that was purely experimental, and didn't hold up in the court of realistic fashion. This week, I decided to try something a little more simple, and turned her casual look into a work-appropriate outfit. I'm really loving the crisp white shirt and simple shoes paired with the bright colors. Below I show you the other 3 ways I've styled this skirt (the wrinkles, as you can see, are an unfortunate side effect from standing with my legs crossed). Which look is your favorite?

I like #2 with the floral print, but I'm way into prints right now!

I LOVE the way you can take one piece, and work it in so many different ways. That's one thing I really want to start doing! It sounds weird, but I hate buying shirts, haha. I Feel like that's always the hardest thing for me to find. So I end up with all these skirts and dresses but nothing to match them with!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hope! I did zero color editing on this one thanks to the perfect sunlight when I snapped the photo. ;-) The blazer is coral!
ReplyDeleteLiz, I used to do the same thing with pants - I would always buy shirts but never bottoms. We all have our little shopping "habits." :-)
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you for re-using items. Amen! I love the last look with the sweater. Fabulous
ReplyDeleteI like the 2 looks in the center best.
ReplyDeleteLove the last look! Fun and professional.
ReplyDeleteI never would have guessed that a blue skirt could be so versatile! I love each of the looks you've put together, and my absolute fave has to be when you paired it with the floral top and rust cardigan.
ReplyDeleteI'm torn. They all look great. But you have just cemented my purchase of an aqua blue skirt. I saw one at Nordstrom and now I must have it. My husband, on the other hand, does not thank you :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the first and the third looks! I'm loving that coral blazer!
ReplyDeleteFeel free to blame the whole thing on me. I don't mind taking the fall. :-)
ReplyDeletethey are all so cute!!! I love the intense color of the blazer, but I think my favorite is the feminine floral blouse and cardigan with the yellow belt. XOXO!
ReplyDeleteI like all of them, but the green sweater with the blue skirt and mustard accents is my fav.
ReplyDeleteI would have not thought of this color combination ... now I have to find a blue skirt!!!!!!!!! :)

HI J., Can I move in next door and every morning you can come over and pick out my clothes? Lol you can do no wrong in my book I love your style and it looks so effortless!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! It's my favorite out of the four. Wish we had an H&M closer to where I live. You always have great clothes from there!

ReplyDeleteMine too!
ReplyDeletelove the 2nd and 3rd very spring-ey :)
ReplyDeleteI also like the blue skirt with the yellow cardigan and floral top. Something I would definitely wear! But all the looks are super cute :)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is really cute.

Great color combo!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I like them all BUT if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the green top with the blue pencil skirt--great color blocking!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about wearing a similar skirt with a red top, but like this blazer much better.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite outfits of yours. You used a lot of color but the use of neutrals made the 2 colorful pieces stand out without overdoing it! I want the skirt AND the blazer!
ReplyDeleteI don't get what you mean about wrinkles though?
great color combo and i love that you paired with neutral heels!
ReplyDeleteLove this H&M skirt...totally tried it on last weekend but wasn't fitting right. Really wishing it did after seeing how great it looks on you! Love your blog - can always count on you to give me new outfit ideas :)

Sarah, I normally wouldn't buy a pencil skirt at H&M b/c I like the quality of Banana or Limited's skirts better. However, the color was so perfect I couldn't pass it up! :-) Also, check out the Nordstrom skirt I link to - it's almost identical and maybe it will fit you better!
ReplyDeleteThank you Melissa! :-) My skirt is all bunched up/wrinkled in the last two photos, b/c I have my legs crossed, but in the other two photos it's not nearly as bad b/c I'm standing straight. An unfortunate mix of posture and inexpensive fabric. :-)
ReplyDeleteI bought the Nordstrom skirt and it is super cute and fits perfect. I've already ordered the skirt in two other colors now. You should check it out.
ReplyDeleteLove how you post all the different looks with the same item on the same page. Love it! Great blog!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the looks! They are so cute.

Pencil skirts... I love them and hate them. Love the look but they don't look good on me (fat tummy doesn't make for cute pencil skirt wearing. Either way, it think the looks are great. If I had seen that skirt in the store, I would have passed it over because of the color; I would have never thought it as versatile as you've shown it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I totally know what you mean! I have dressed several women that can't wear them - but the good news is that A-line and pleated skirts took great on you! And if you ever want to copy one of my color combos you could easily sub in the same color skirt for a type of fit that works better for your body. :-)
ReplyDeleteohh I see. I didn't even notice!
ReplyDeleteJ, I haven't seen an outfit yet that I didn't like. I'm not as bold to try the color combinations yet, but I feel it coming one day soon.... Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites for sure! Love all the looks! I think I need a skirt that color, lol. :)
ReplyDeletexo
so patriotic :)
ReplyDeleteLove these colors! Ps I have that floral top from old navy! I would love to see more ways to wear it!
ReplyDeleteMallory @ Faith. Fashion. Beauty.
I love this! I really like the last three looks with the blue skirt. I've done a look similar to the floral top one, and I have the pieces to recreate the other two!

I think I need a blue skirt... My favorite look is your ON floral shirt. All of the colors work together so nicely :) Can't wait to see what else you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled on your blog from within Pinterest. So glad I did! I just love the way you do your comparative "inspo shot" then your own version right next to each other! I have a closet full of great clothes, I just don't know what to do with them. You shall help me go forth in style...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Donna and welcome to the blog! :-)
