I have been so intrigued by the hi-low skirt trend. I knew I wanted to try it eventually, and then the Lauren Conrad blogging contest happened and gave me an opportunity to do just that! Here's how I wound up with the outfits above: they sent us 9 items from the Lauren Conrad for Kohl's collection, including this skirt. Our first challenge was to use 3 of the items they sent us (I chose the skirt, shoes and jacket) to come up with two outfits - one for sightseeing and one for a date. They did not ask us to post about it, but since this is my first time wearing a hi-low skirt, I wanted to share it with you! (I'm also hoping you will help me out by voting for me and/or leaving a comment. If I win, I will give away one of the prizes, a $500 Kohl's gift card, to you guys right here on the blog! Please go here to vote and comment.) So, tell me - are you a fan of hi-low skirts? Would you wear these looks?

ReplyDeleteI have this same skirt & it's been sitting in my closet because I can't quite figure out what to pair it with...love the second look and those shoes are cute too! :)
ReplyDeleteJj- voted for you!
ReplyDeleteI voted! I love the 2nd look as well!
ReplyDeletei voted
ReplyDeleteVoted, especially love the second look!
ReplyDeleteIn love with the high low skirts!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the high/low skirt IF the length is right. This skirt is perfect on you! However at just 2 inches shorter, the front would be below my knees on me and the back would be too close to my ankles and I imagine this is not an easy hemline to raise :( I'll keep my eye out for a hi-low in the right length for me!
ReplyDeleteVoted.
ReplyDeleteI love both looks.
I like the way the skirt looks on you, but I'm not sure I could pull it off.
Voted! I wish I could wear this skirt. I wish the "hi" was a little bit longer. Looks fabulous on you!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the high low skirt. I've worn them before and always feel something is wrong. Either half the skirt is tucked in my underwear or I feel lopsided lol
ReplyDeleteI voted!!! Good luck. I want that 500 gift card lol
I have been cautious with the hi-low skirts. Both the front and back need to hit at the right spot on the leg, so it's very tricky. The skirt you are wearing looks great on you but would be too long for me (only 5'2"). I like both looks, but especially the second one. Haven't voted yet, but I will.
ReplyDeleteI voted for you!!! and will continue!
ReplyDeletelovin' the hi-low skirts! Both outfits are absolutely amazing! toriandalex.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt! They are both cute, but the one on the right is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteCreamy
I love the hi-low skirt! So cute I like the second look with the bold necklace and clutch so cute!

I am in love with the date night outfit, especially. It is so feminine and fun!
ReplyDeletePS - voted. :)
ReplyDeleteI voted for you.. love the outfits :)
ReplyDeleteI voted for you this round and the round before. I love how you styled the skirt especially in the second outfit. I love that skirt!
ReplyDeleteI like your hi-lo skirt. A lot of them that I see (like on forever 21) are just too short in the front. I like the little bit of extra fabric in yours in the front. And I really like that jacket!

Seeing these looks that you put together makes me want to try the high/low skirt. I voted for you and I hope you do well!
ReplyDeleteVoted and commented! Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteahh that's awesome you've made it to the top running! I love this skirt! It's fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that skirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! The good news about this skirt (and I"m sure many others like it) is that it has an elastic waistband. So you could easily move it down a couple inches if you wanted! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love these outfits! I will definitely try a hi-low skirt on my next trip abroad. Good job!

I love the second look! First look is not very me (not even when I try to break my mold), but the second look is darling! I love it and I will probably try to recreate this one!
ReplyDeleteLove this trend as well. Love your look!

I'm actually kind of digging the high low skirt! I got my first midi skirt last fall and love it and now I think I need to buy one of these! I especially like your date night look! Congrats on making the Top 3 bloggers! I just went and voted for you!!
ReplyDeleteI personally don't like the high/low skirt but I think you make it look awesome!! And I voted for you because of that and because I think you deserve to win because you're awesome!
ReplyDeleteNot a huge fan of this trend (I like my stuff more streamlined and tailored) but I really like how it makes you look like you should be on a beach somewhere :-)
ReplyDeleteI like them, and you rock the look! I totally voted for you! #teamJeanette!
ReplyDeleteErin, I love the idea of wearing this skirt to the beach! I hadn't thought of that, but I think I'm going to try it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Shelley! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the sightseeing look the most - I think hi-lo skirts are great! Best of luck with the comp.x
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I got a really cute black one at urban outfitters and I always get compliments on it!
ReplyDeleteYour styling of the skirt makes it seem so wearable. I think that your choice of colors also make it seem more expensive.
ReplyDeleteVoted. Even if I hadn't seen this post, I still would've voted for your styling. Absolutely love the second look, and you're making me think twice about hi lo skirts now. Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this skirt and my fave outfit is the one with the graphic tee/jacket combo. Cute shoes too.

Just voted for you! I like the high- low look, esp. the one on the right!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
i LOVE the outfit! i was just on lauren conrads blog & saw you and had to come see your blog! i voted for you on Laurens contest! new follower as well. Very cool blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kelly! And welcome to the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Heather!
ReplyDeleteThank youuu! :-)
ReplyDeleteStop it. I am beyond obsessed with the outfit on the right. I actually bought a very similar shirt and necklace from forever this weekend. Might have to go out and buy this skirt to. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteJ, I've wanted to try this trend for a while, too, and after seeing your post I may need to buy a hi-low skirt soon! I love the date look, it's so chic and easy, especially for the pending warm weather. This Skirt is such a great and interesting alternative to a regular skirt or jeans, like I normally would wear. It's also a great way to wear a bold color on bottom (another trend I've not yet dared to try). Love it and love your blog!
ReplyDelete-Jenna
love hi-low skirt!! actually got one from Forever 21 last week and love it.
ReplyDeleteNow that’s just unfair. You look as good in a flowy high-low as you do in a pencil! Love the outfits (esp. 2nd) and love the silhoutte of the flowy skirt on you.
ReplyDeletelove your outfits! I voted for you. :)
ReplyDeletei just found your blog recently through meals and moves and since i have no style sense, i'm really loving your blog!! this skirt is really cute and i love how you made it into two totally different outfits.
ReplyDeleteI saw a high low skirt just the other day but didn't really think it was for me...until I saw your outfit pairing. Now, I would totally wear it because I can better picture what it would go with in my head. Also, I voted for you!!!
ReplyDeletealready voted for you & LOVE the way you styled the hi-low skirt! i would totally rock it, i love anything this flowy and easy. i lovese these wedges too....
ReplyDeleteI voted for you- the clear winner if ya ask me!
ReplyDeleteJ! I was on the fence about these skirts but I'm not anymore!!! The color is great on you, and the shoes really make a statement (even though they are simple brown leather shoes!). I love Lauren Conrad's line at Kohl's....the gray leather jacket is a piece I've had my eye on for awhile (I live in Kansas so I would get major use out of it!). I love how you made the skirt very feminine for the date and more 'rocker' for the day! Great outfit! Going to Kohl's SOON!
ReplyDeleteI had a high/low wedding dress in the eighties...ya I said it...a wedding dress, above the knees WITH a train on the back...I'm still not over it so I don't think you'll see me sporting the high/low look anytime soon. Looks really cute on you though.....
ReplyDeleteI love the hi-low skirt. A must-have for spring. Btw, I've already voted for you!

You look absolutely gorgeous in that skirt!!! I just recently bought a couple of hi-low dresses for spring/summer too. Can't wait to rock em like you did :D
ReplyDeleteThe more I see of these skirts the more I'm liking them. I think it's a great look that can be dressed up or down. I also voted for you my fellow Jayhawk :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were a BRUCE! fan!!!! I just saw him last night!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat looks!!! Bought a hi-lo maxi at TJMaxx for $24. Can't wait to try it out! :)
So funny, I showed my friend this shirt when I got it and the convo went something like this: "oh, cool it's that iconic Bruce Springsteen album cover." me: "who?" LOL. Unfortunately I grew up not listening to secular music as a kid so I'm not really familiar. I just loved the Americana vibe of it, and maybe wearing the shirt will even inspire me to give it a listen! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo, thanks fellow Jayhawk! :-)
ReplyDeleteAhhh this is TOO funny! I love that your wedding dress was hi-low! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is buttery soft! You almost can't tell it's not real, I highly recommend it. I'm not keeping mine since I have don't have much use for it in Florida (and already have 2 leather jackets) but if you live in KS I think it's a great piece to own!
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Elaine! Welcome to the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteI do love both these outfits. However, the first one isn't too practical for sightseeing - just the shoes. The rest is great because of layering. I love the skirt.
ReplyDeleteThese platforms are really, really comfy - but I would likely opt for some flat sandals for sightseeing too! For the challenge though I had to pick 3 items and use them for both, and these shoes were just too cute not to pick! :-) (and, it's kind of funny but the other 2 girls are wearing the same shoes for sightseeing too!)
ReplyDeleteI really like the high low skirt. I actually just a got a dress in the high low style. Thanks for putting together the 2 looks!
ReplyDeleteI would wear both of them! Great outfits!

Love your blog... so much inspiration and it's accessible too. Plus I also grew up in Kansas! just bought and wore a "hi-lo" skirt from Zara for Easter and really liked that it was a little bit different but still easy to wear: http://goo.gl/W8AgV
ReplyDeleteA Kansas girl? I had to say "hi"! :-) I'm so glad you like the blog and that skirt from Zara looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks for stopping by :) And it was so fun to wear... here are a couple pics of how I ended up wearing it: http://goo.gl/ahxMr
ReplyDeleteThis look is fabulous, J!! I adore the way you took it from sight seeing to date night so well! I've never commented before but adore your blog and the way you make fashion accessible to the everyday woman. I'd seen your blog before, but got really interested from the LC contest. Best of luck winning! I'll be voting for you! :)
ReplyDeleteCarol, you are so sweet! Just wanted to let you know that this comment made my day yesterday! Thank you!
