No need to adjust your screen. I am, in fact, wearing a sweater tied around my shoulders. I'm also breaking one of my only fashion rules - don't leave the house in anything that could fit in at a costume party. And this look is borderline Stepford Wives/country club enough that I might be in violation. :-) I'm not going to lie though - this is one of my favorites. I love a super-preppy look like this and the candy colors make me Willy Wonka happy. Tell me - would you wear a super-preppy look like this? Or would a sweater around the shoulders never fly in your hometown?

I live in the very preppy town of Richmond, VA...Sweater around the shoulders is completely normal. And I have that shirt.
ReplyDeleteProbably wouldn't fly around here, but I love the rest of the look, especially the bright plaid! :)
ReplyDeleteI love super preppy looks! The plaid shirt is adorable. Personally, I'd probably keep the yellow accessories but swap out the lime skirt for a white one. But you can rock color, so rock on!
ReplyDeleteI live in Los Angeles, so pretty much anything goes here! You'd be amazed at the things I see on a daily basis. Very cute outfit for Easter, but the sweater... best to be left where it belongs. No offense :)
ReplyDeleteI'll admit that green used to not be on my radar, but with all the shades and neons popping up everywhere, I'm now a believer. Your outfit is so Easter chic - love the plaid as well!

Love the outfit, not sure if the yellow accessories would be too much for me though. I'm really liking that Old Navy shirt though, I may have to get one of the other patterns!
ReplyDeleteI do uber preppy a bit, but would never do the sweater around the shoulders. I do like the Easter egg outfit minus the sweater and necklace. Very cute on you and I think the bright colors make it fun, not stuffy.
ReplyDeleteI love this like! I would wear it in a heart beat.
ReplyDeletegirrrrrl i LOVE this look. and YES i would wear it in a heartbeat... also, i'm in the south, and you can bet that this look would DEFINITELY fly around here. :) haha so cute!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks like a costume, not preppy. I would lose the Betty Rubble necklace and sweater. If you are going to wear a skirt that bright and tight, I would do a neutral shoe and bag. It's too much! That wouldn't fly in the south... not sure where these people live that said that. Preppy means refined and subtle here.
ReplyDeleteThe shirt and the pink sweater are beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteThe color of that skirt is gorgeous!

I love the shirt and skirt combo! I would love to see how this outfit looks with those super cute gold boat shoes you have. Reminds me of Cape Cod in the summer. :)
ReplyDeleteI am soooo glad you have this skirt because I snatched it up at the Limited too. I'm having trouble figuring out what to wear with it, but you always know what to do with bold color. Hooray!
ReplyDeleteLoves it. I have a bunch more outfits coming up with it, too!
ReplyDeleteI would totally wear the top half with shorts and boat shoes. Definitely very Cape Cod! (I used to spend every Labor Day weekend there)
ReplyDeleteHoney I am from the south and I LOVE this look. Have you ever been to Charleston or Savannah where the southern prep just oozes? Every heard of Lilly Pulitzer? Bright colors and extremely preppy. I think you are speaking from personal preference. I think it would "fly" just fine.
ReplyDeleteAwe... I love this! You look great dressed preppy and it is Stepford-wive-ish!!! LOL! But, it is so fabulous!! xx

Preppy is out of place in my part of San Diego, but it doesn't mean you don't look super cute! I love how you took that Old Navy shirt and did something different than what most people do--like pairing it with jeans for a casual look.

Sorry J, but I'm not loving this one. I adore the skirt, and your comment about wearing the shirt with shorts sounds great, but I don't think they work so well together. Perhaps because that type of looks seems to be a bit old for you as well, just mixing the sweater, the necklace and everything else, it's a bit much in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteStill love the skirt though :)
Wow, this is super adorable! I wouldn't wear a sweater around the neck, but I love how it gives the outfit a touch of pink! If you could figure out another way to incorporate pink in there, I'd probably wear an outfit like that :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could pull off a sweater around my shoulders but it looks great on you! As always, you look fab!

A little too over the top for my liking. I think I'd like it more with a navy blue or pink skirt, but I do love the skirt for spring/summer! Maybe just with a little more dulled down outfit. Can't wait to see how else you utilize this skirt!
ReplyDeleteI like the willy wonka colors too! I typically would leave the house in anything I like - forget what people think! :P
ReplyDeleteThis works with and without your shoulder sweater.

Love this look! The bright colors are perfect for spring! I need to copy this look!
ReplyDeleteIts perfect for Spring and for the Easter holiday! Also with the bright neon like color of the skirt you are trending perfectly! I really need to be more fashion forward and bold like this. Love it! xoxo
ReplyDeleteIf you don't think it fits in down in Fl, come right on up to Connecticut and you'll fit in JUST DANDY :-) I LOVE the look and totally can relate!
ReplyDeleteThe sweater around your neck works because the lime colour of your skirt makes the look rather 'ironic' preppy;), which I guess might make this outfit a little costumey, but on you it is just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, and so Easter-y! People dress very casual here in the desert, so i don't think i could get away with the tied cardigan look!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would be able to wear something this preppy with my lifestyle, but I like the look on you and think you pull it off nicely! Also, I am totally coveting your skirt and am very sad that there are no Limited's in Canada (to my knowledge).
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the preppy look, it's timeless to me. But seems there are too many colors competing, like the shoes, skirt, and clutch are all 3 different shades of yellow. And then the sweater and beads are too much.
ReplyDeleteYou of course could put anything and look cute, but that's just it... Seems you're trying too hard here. Sorry
Pink and green together are considered neutrals in CT. No one would think twice about this outfit here in the land of steady habits, except to think you look great.

ReplyDeleteI love that skirt. The color is amazing!

Love it!! Such a fun fresh take on classic preppy!
ReplyDeleteI like this, but I think the three different yellows on the bottom is to much, I think a nude clutch and heels would be my choice. It is just a little busy.
ReplyDeletewhy are one of your eyebrows always raised way up?
ReplyDeleteIt would be a great look for the law office, plus I went to high school in the late 70s and we all looked like that :) Great outfit!
