I keep finding so many Olivia Palermo outfits to love, I'm officially declaring her one of my style icons! I've copied a few other Olivia looks, you can see them here, here, and here. Today's outfit would have looked just as great with black skinny jeans (and been appropriate for work that way!) but I decided to give it my own spin with black shorts, to beat the Florida heat. Do you dig Olivia Palermo's style as much as I do? How would you wear this look?

ReplyDeletehey J! If you've already written about this, please forgive me. Everytime I click on the MJR sales site I have trouble finding the exact item or navigating the large amount of search results. Any tips? xo
ReplyDeleteI love the outfit, J! Quick question, what size blazer did you buy?
ReplyDeleteHi J, I see you buy a lot of your clothes from MJR Sales. Is that site legit? Would love to hear more about it!
ReplyDeleteI love that ruffled blouse! Have you seen anything similar in stores lately?
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute! Thanks for all the ideas.
ReplyDeleteI would DEFINITELY wear this outfit with black skinny pants for work. Or even a black pencil skirt. I've been kind of craving a striped blazer and now I might just have to shell out for one. Did you get the navy one or the gray one?
ReplyDeleteI took a look at MJR sales. I'm a curvy girl so there's not a lot of choices for me. But I'll keep checking.

I absolutely love everything about this outfit! That ruffle top is soo cute and I really like your black shorts. I can't tell - are the shorts a jean material? They look really comfy yet polished.
ReplyDeleteWe have been having the most gorgeous weather - high 70's and 80's - in Western New York...in March! So this is a very helpful outfit!
Love the idea of your blog and you put it all together so well - our fantastic new range of designer kaftans has just launched www.bluemojito.co.uk - let us know what u thinkx
ReplyDeleteI love love love this so much! :) Olivia is always looking fabulous! Great post!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of Olivia Palermo! She seems like such a stuck up socialite and is kinda too much about the designer brands--not at all down-to-earth. I like fashion that is accessible and isn't about showing off your money!
ReplyDeleteI just started reading your blog, and I'm completely in love! I like that you have a lot of pieces of clothing that I already have in my closet, but put them together in fresh outfits that I wouldn't have come up with.
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance for all the outfit inspirations! :)
I love Olivia Palermo, she always looks so great. I also really love your version :)

I've been on the lookout for a striped blazer that wouldn't overwhelm me, and I think you've pointed me in the right direction! I love the look you've put together, and would also try pairing the blazer with a bright pencil skirt ... maybe in green?
ReplyDeleteI have been in love with her fashion style for quite some time. I like how you put shorts with this outfit :-) this is an outfit i could wear!
ReplyDeleteSuch a chic look - love the stripes & how she kept it neutral...very cute outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jackie! Welcome to the blog!! :-)
ReplyDeleteAndrea, I gotta be totally honest I don't know who Olivia Palermo is, other than seeing her outfit pictures online all the time lol! I understand what you mean about celebs in general though, and this precisely why I blog! So that there can be fashion inspiration out there that is (finally!) affordable and down-to-earth!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lindsay! The shorts are kind of a dress pant material, if that makes sense. :-)
ReplyDeleteThey actually have a huge selection of plus size clothes on MJR now! I love that they are going in that direction. Plenty of sizes for everyone. :-)
ReplyDeleteI got the navy one!
ReplyDeleteThank you! My blazer is an XS.
ReplyDeleteNot to long ago, I bought a sweater from H&M, just like this blazer, Thank so much for the idea to mix it up. I also love Olivia and I think I have about 20 pins of her outfits!! Thanks J!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kavi. I haven't seen anything exactly like this, but plenty of similar options all over the place! This kind of big/ruffle thing seems to be big right now!
ReplyDeleteNo prob! Unfortunately I can't link directly to an item on their website because each individual item is listed separately (so when I bought mine, it went off the website). Check out this post though, with my tips for shopping there and finding the best stuff! :-) http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/todays-everyday-fashion-my-new.html
ReplyDeleteI loooove MJR (clearly). It works just like TJ Maxx, with all brand-name stuff, but with the convenience of shopping from home, which I love. Definitely legit. I've placed tons of orders and never had any problems. Here is my post with more info/tips for shopping there: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/todays-everyday-fashion-my-new.html
ReplyDeleteThanks, this helps a lot! :)
ReplyDeleteOliva Palermo has such great fashion sense and is always pairing things for chic looks! I love your take with the shorts too! Could you do a post about MJR sales sometime too? I'm so confused by the site!
ReplyDeleteThank you Emily! Here is a link to my post on MJR: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/todays-everyday-fashion-my-new.html
ReplyDeleteOlivia has the best style. She's definitely one of my faves.

You are such a babe and I love your outfits. I try to recreate YOURS! I'd love for you to talk aboue JEANS. Skinny jeans, in particular. Are they going out of style? Are they still just as hot? I feel like most butts do not look attractive in skinny jeans. haha. I'd just love your opinion on the matter!
ReplyDeleteI watched enough of "the city" to have a slightly negative connotation concerning Olivia's personality, but you can't deny she has a good sense of style.

I too have been a fan of Olivia Palermo's fashion for quite some time. I could see myself wearing an outfit like this! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Janelle! I think skinny jeans are here to stay for at least a couple more years. They are just so practical, that's why I love them! Gone are the days where I have two piles of jeans - ones for heels and ones for flats - skinny jeans work with both!! And while I'm definitely careful about what kind of rear view they give me, you can also wear them more like leggings and cover your bum with a long tunic. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi J - I love your blog & your style, but have to say that your reply to this comment struck a chord. It really irriates that when people say curvy, people automatically assume it means plus size! I'm curvy and at a size 8 bottom thanks only to my hips, I am definitely not plus size! Please be conscientious of making comments such as these that may offend your readers. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback! I wasn't recommend plus size clothing to that reader though. I was simply letting everyone know that MJR has all sizes, including plus size. As I said - something for everyone! :-) Sorry if it somehow sounded I meant plus size for her specifically.
ReplyDeleteoh I love this combo! So easy to recreate from stuff I already own too. I just found an amazing striped blazer at tj maxx recently <3 You are by far the most relatable fashion blogger my dear!
ReplyDeletePs. I edited my reply, hopefully now it sounds more like a suggestion for everyone vs. to the commenter. I also just want to say - please keep in mind that I answer at least 100 questions every day. Please don't assume I'm being rude if you see something like this!! You guys know I'm not like that!! :-) I'm just trying to be as helpful as possible to as many people as I can everyday (and lately I can't keep up with everyone's questions, I have emails from November I haven't answered yet). Sometimes something might not be phrased as perfectly as it should be, but I'm doing the best I can! Thanks for understanding and giving me some much-needed grace! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you!! If you re-create I would love to see your version! Feel free to post it to my Facebook wall. http://www.facebook.com/jseverydayfashion
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. You amaze me with your wardrobe collection and your ability assembling an outfit. Do you do wardrobe editing or closet paring? I live in Tampa, so it's not far. I have SO many clothes, but I swear I can't put an outfit together to save the life of me.
ReplyDeleteThank you Meghan! And yes I sure do! Details here: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/p/sponsorship-opportunities.html
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is great! I actually like yours a lot more than Olivia's version : )

I dig her style - and yours! Love your version of this look.x
ReplyDeleteI love Olivia's style!

Kmart also have a really nice striped blazer right now! LOVE your inspiration photo and your look! http://www.fashionatabargain.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletecannot stand oliva palarmo. if you watched the city - she was so stuck up, cruel and unimpressive with how she acts like a thoughtless mean high school girl with zero moral charachter. She would lie to her bosses and not put forth any work ethic. She blamed others for her failures and used her fashion networking to gain favor with the bosses. her taste is terrible in clothing. she trades off her family name but she is an embarrassment to her family.
ReplyDeletei do not find her dressing style cute at all-to me its not how real people dress-she seems to be trying to look like a model but she is not pretty or even cute- and she always looks fake and plastic, like the clothes are to good for her, which they are of course. to me she is trash.
not someone i would consider looking up to based on her lack of morals.
I love the stripes in your outfit. Actually I love stripes anyhow:)
ReplyDeletetres jolie!
ReplyDeletelol! That cracked me up, you are so awesome J! :) Olivia Palermo is a NYC socialite girl whose dad is like a real estate mogul or something. She got D-list famous by being the villain character in the "reality" show starring Whitney Port, The City which was the sequel to The Hills on MTV. But overall what bugs me about her is that you will ALWAYS find her carrying $20k Birkin bags, even the belts she wears are like $300+! To me, it's more impressive to do what you do and look good without relying on uber pricey designers.
ReplyDeleteI normally don't like a lot of fashion blogger sites because I only like a few things of thiers, but whenever I look at your site there is always something I really like. I really want a striped blazer. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit and everything you post! I look forward each day to reading a new post from you. I was considering ordering this jacket online and the reviews on the Express website said to order a size up. Did you have to do that or does it run true to size?
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, thank you Ashley! I thought this jacket was pretty true to size. I'm usually a 0 or XS in blazers and I got an XS. It's also just a tad stretchy, so I'm surprised people felt like they needed to size up!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, thank you Kristen!
