Today's Everyday Fashion: LoveMode
Anyone else luh-ving polka dots lately? I recently picked up this little number from a website called LoveMode. I fell in love with this dress + I wanted to give the website a try so I could share my experience with you guys. The dress fit and quality is similar to Forever 21. I'm wearing a medium and it's still pretty short on me, so I would recommend sizing up. This particular dress comes in tons of different colors - both solids and polka dots - and had adjustable straps and a zipper up the front. I dressed it up for fall (wore the one on the right, since it's too hot for tights), but it will also be a fun dress with some sandals for summer! Let's take a poll. Which print is your favorite right now - polka dots, stripes or leopard?
Dress: c/o LoveMode, $20
Navy cardigan: Gap, $20
Navy tights: c/o We Love Colors, $12
Belt: Gap, $40

Watch: Michael Kors, family gift
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot website, $49 and $59
Ring: My Stella & Dot website, $49
1. J.Crew multi-strap belt, $55
2. GUESS double buckle belt, $68
3. Need Supply Co. rhonda belt, $60

I'm a dot girl! Getting tired of all the animal prints we've seen over the last couple of years. I want polka dot pumps!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always been a fan of stripes, but I just purchased a leopard cardi lately and I love pairing it with different colors like purple, red and royal blue! Leopard is so versatile! Also, I'm a new follower (as of Saturday) and I must say I've gotten more outfit inspiration from your site than ANY OTHER blog I follow! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for some good inspiration on the Wednesday :)

I'm also loving polka dots right now, but I have to be honest, I don't love either look, sorry! Cute shade of yellow though.
ReplyDeleteOh do not make me choose between polka dots and stripes! Though my wardrobe would reveal stripes to be the favorite....
ReplyDeletegorgeous dress! i love love polka dots!

Jackie, no need to apologize! What would you wear this dress with?
ReplyDeleteYay! Thank you so much and welcome to the blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteCute. Love that you coordinated your coffee mug. ;-)
ReplyDeleteA cute way to do summery dresses in winter!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I'm looking for something yellow and this dress is just perfect !!
ReplyDeleteI am a way bigger fan of this look with tights than without. I think it's hard to pull of a dress with boots and I'm not sure if it works here with bare legs. Adorable with the tights though, love. Belt looks great over the cardi too! I am more into leopard lately because it makes me think of furs/warmth for the winter. In the spring I'm sure my mood will change to polka dots and stripes.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually a stripes girl, but as of late I've come to love polka dots. I saw outfit inspiration on Pinterest a year ago with a really nice navy blue polka dot dress, I'm excited that they're in now so I have a better shot at finding something similar!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite pick is leopard, however, I'm no hater of polka dots. I usually don't do stripes, because I feel like they make me look way bigger than normal.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so cute on you and love it with the navy tights! (And am jealous it's too hot in Florida to wear tights!!) I'm not big on polka dot but I'm slowly coming around... I like leopard though and I'm working on wearing more stripes too! I've begun to think of them as a neutral!
ReplyDeleteAh, it depends on the day. Lately it's all about stripes. No, wait, polka dots. Well, ok, leopard. Ha.
ReplyDeleteI do have a serious question, though. When going for a monochromatic look, is there a general guide for how many colors you should limit it to? For example, I was considering wearing a soft pink top with a raspberry cardigan over it. I wanted to put a violet skinny belt over it and peach/pink beaded necklace (http://www.forever21.com/images/detail/00016837-01.jpg). That totals four colors on top (pants are brown, shoes are nude). Are the belt and necklace too much? What's the magic number?

Someone recently tweeted a pic of this polka dot Old Navy dress and I love it! Thought you might like it too: http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=322908887&pid=uid2641-1460879-79
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent question. I just spent 10 minutes looking back at my outfits trying to figure out if there is a "magic number." For the most part, I think it's tough to pigeon-hole pretty much anything when it comes to fashion, but it looks like almost all my looks stop at 5. The outfit you described would be 6, so I would drop either the necklace or the belt. At the end of the day though there is no right or wrong so I say rock it however you like it best! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is super cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the polka dots but my work clothing has to be very conservative so I can't get away with bright dots, which I would love. Maybe in my next life...
ReplyDeleteI am definitely in love with stripes right now and for awhile I felt like they were unflattering but for me they have made a come back. I feel like the just add a little something to an outfit and can be paired with so many other prints.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like that one, thanks! Sounds like I'll be making a quick stop at Old Navy this weekend...
ReplyDeleteI love how you post each part of your outfit and where you bought it...because it helps me to look at each piece when I'm shopping (whether it be online or in store) and figure out how I can pair it with accessories and other items that I already have in my closet...I used to quickly skim pages of online clothing and never find anything because I did not take that extra minute to visualize! Thanks for the continued inspiration!
ReplyDeletePolka dots are definitely the best!! And I have to say... this dress looks much better on you than on the LoveMode site. I love how you pulled it all together as a much more mature outfit.
ReplyDeleteLove this look! Especially with the tights :)
ReplyDeleteSUPER CUTE!!!!!
ReplyDeletei really love the belted look - but for me, a plus size, it's hard to pull it off, b/c it makes me look pregnant... any tips? thin or thicker belt?
ReplyDeleteLara, the belted look definitely takes some trial and error and it's not for everyone. Check out this video where I walk through how I decide which buttons to button on a cardigan and where i put my belt. I hope this has some tips that help! http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2010/11/video-how-to-belt-cardigan_12.html
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute in this, I love the dress and the price-point is excellent!
