Today's Everyday Fashion: The Stretchy Skirt

"Whoa momma." Those were my exact words the first time I tried on this skirt. It's super-stretchy, so comfy that it feels like pajamas, but it leaves pretty much nothing to the imagination. Its only saving grace is that it's so long. Tight and short? Save it for clubbing. Tight and paired with cleavage? Definitely don't wear that to work. But paired with a modest shirt (no cleavage and has sleeves), I am on board with wearing an ensemble like this to the office. I just don't recommend going out for a big lunch. This puppy isn't going to hide a "food baby" (as I like to call it) for anything. Would you wear a stretchy skirt like this to work?

  1. Well first of all WHOAH! You do look great!  The way you styled this could probably be appropriate in the right work setting.

I actually wore a stretchy skirt to work yesterday, but wore a longer cardigan over it to hide the booty.  I work in an office full of men, so I try not to bring too much attention to myself with tighter fitting clothes.

  2. Cute outfit!! Target have cute stretchy Pencil Skirts at the moment too for only $14! I got a red one and I LOVE it! :)
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE River Island (I'm originally from the UK), i wish they would open one in the US like they did w/ Topshop. Have you ever browsed on Next.com? They're a British store, however they ship to the US for $5 (2 business days too) Great quality clothes. If you liked River Island, you'll for sure like Next :)

  3. Love the color blocking! I would probably not wear something that tight- once you hit a certain age and weight, in my opinion, it's time to wear more flattering clothing. You however, totally rock this look- you have an adorable figure! I love the idea of a red pencil skirt though- so the one on the far right might be more practical for me.

  8. This looks stunning on you!  I love the color combination.  On a personal note, I can't wear a skin tight skirt... only if I had your flat tummy!

  9. LOVE it on you. I wouldn't wear this to work, or anywhere for that matter. I have nothing in the back to make a skirt like this look as fabulous as you did!

  12. I wouldn't wear this to the office but I have 2 stretchy, long skirts from H&M that I wear out. I like them because they are subtly sexy for when we go out to nicer places.

  13. I looove stretchty skirts! Since I've gained some weight and I'm still trying to get it off the stretch works better than having to buy all different sizes. Loving the professionalism added with the sleeved top.

  15. With a conservative shirt and a jacket or sweater, I would most def wear a skirt like this to work.

  17. Nope.  Definitely would not wear to work unless I had a tunic sweater or wrap sweater over it.  Not a professional look IMO.

  19. Not with my ba-dunk-a-dunk! But you look great!

I can see this working really well for someone who's trying to look more curvy, actually! And there's no shame in Spanx.

  20. Wow! This looks great on you! But I don't think it's appropriate for work without something at least partially hiding the back side. I LOVE pencil skirts though. Just not skin tight ones. Ha ha.

  22. Listen ladies, buy a size up and pair with a conservative collared, button down shirt. I am curvy and short (5'3, size 10) and this look is still amazing on me! It's sexy but classy. We forget this used to be the style for women. They didn't wear pants. It's perfectly appropriate no matter your age or size. Just buy the correct size!

  23. Oh my! I don't think I could get away with this haha. It's a bit too tight for me. :-( You look great, however!!!

  25. I wear pretty form-fitting skirts to work, but I'm with you that as long as they're not short, then it's good to go.  You look amazing!  I love combining purple and red.  I'd love for you to check out my blog.  I just started a couple months ago.

  27. Hey there, J! Found you on IFB, and I LOVE the concept of your blog.

I used to hate purple and red together until they sort of accidentally became the color scheme of my new room, and now I appreciate them even more to make up for the lost time =P adorable outfit, girl!
