Today's Everyday Fashion: Last Drops of Summer
This time of year I feel like singing a ballad to my white jeans. They are one of my favorite items in my closet and I wear them like crazy all summer long. Just because colder weather has arrived, and someone once made a silly rule about Labor Day does not mean I will stop wearing them completely though! (I rocked them in the dead of winter here.) This outfit idea popped into my head while I was on vacation and I wanted to give it a whirl even if summer is (un)officially over. I love the idea of making white pants more fall with the cognac tones and a bit warmer with a blazer. I love this look for casual Friday in the office or a daytime meeting. Tell me - do you wear your white jeans past Labor Day?

Absolutely!
ReplyDeleteWhite jeans after Labor Day is totally acceptable, there are no fashion rules anymore! It's just silly. We did a white jeans remix and had a ton of fun! Taking your white jeans and adding fall/winter colors can definitely make them appropriate for the season. Same thing with white skirts and blazers too. Rock them all year long!

Never! Even though I have been down in FL for 18 years, I still cannot shake myself of the northern stigma of no white after Labor Day!
ReplyDeletelovely outfit j
ReplyDeleteI still wear my white jeans too! I don't really care about the Labor Day rule, though I wouldn't wear ALL white after Labor Day!

I do wear my white jeans past labor day, and I think I may wear them today! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAllie: you CAN wear all white after LD, if you know how to... here's an idea: a long white maxi skirt/dress belted w/a cognac/brown belt and paired w/some matching booties and a cute jacket or sweater in an earthly tone... (that seems like a very "fall-ish" outfit to me... don't you think?) It's all about experimenting w/layers, colors and attitude! ;)
ReplyDeleteWow J! You just read my mind! I was just thinking about what to pair w/my tight white jeans to wear now and you just made the outfit for me!!!!!!!!!! ;D THANKS!!!!!!!!! hehe (I guess you won't mind if I copycat you??? LOL) Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, LOVE this outfit. I love brown(s), pink and turquoise together...SO cute!! I don't wear white pants after labor day (even though I live in GA and it is still hot here and I am still wearing capris....I don't wear my white ones). I, like Kara, can't get past growing up w/ 'the rule' of no white pants after Labor Day.
ReplyDeleteBut, I love your outfit, you nailed it!
BTW, is the blazer you have on recent or last year? Your blazer looks much cuter than the Target one.
ReplyDeletelove this look!!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely believe in wearing white pants after Labor Day! ;) Loving the cognac with the white too! I was glad to see you back after your vacation. Your pictures were gorgeous by the way!

Jan, I got the blazer in July or August of this year! It was on super-clearance in the store.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind ONE BIT if you want to copycat. In fact, I prefer it. :-) Thanks so much though, glad you like the post today!
ReplyDeleteI definitely wear my white jeans in the fall and winter. I love pairing them with boots!
ReplyDeleteI even wore them this week and posted it in my OOTWW today.

This is such a good reminder that I need to wear my white jeans again! I've actually only worn them once or twice this summer but since summer is just starting in SF, maybe I'm not too late! I love them with this camel blazer too! My camel blazer has seen better days so I need to find a new one- that Target one is such a good deal!
ReplyDeletefunny you should ask! I'm wearing them today! so I'd say the answer is yes!

I am all about the white after labor day, as long as it's paired with fall like separates!

I have a pair, but they need a little hemming in order for me to want to wear them more... Im just lazy and havent sat down and hemmed them... shame too, because white jeans are amazing :)
ReplyDeleteYes!!! I actually love "winter white"... little white dresses, white blazers, and white jeans too, definitely!!! I use boots as an easy transition!

Absolutely!!!
ReplyDeleteI love my white jeans tucked into boots and worn with a cozy sweater! Super cute. :)
You look adorable - I love the tan accessories.
Pip, thank you so much! It's great to be back from vacation and I'm glad you enjoyed the Europe pictures! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit.
ReplyDeleteHow did you get a blazer for only $25 from Express? I have been tempted to get blazers from there but they don't fit PERFECT so I don't spend the money.
Thanks Colleen! This blazer is definitely one of my best sale scores at Express. For one, I bought it out of season. (In early July, during some of the best sales/best time of year to shop.) I also stalked it. It went on sale for $50 and hung around there for about 4 weeks. I kept checking, but since they had about 10 of my size left, I knew the price would go down even more and it did!
ReplyDeletehmm. July was the time that I was actually hardcore blazer shopping. They had so many. Maybe I should have stalked them in August.... next year.
ReplyDeleteThe best sales happen the last 2 weeks of June/first 2 weeks of July. By August it's all fall merchandise and the sale stuff is usually gone!
