Today's Everyday Fashion: Watermelon Girl

I love watermelon colors together (coral + lime green) and today's outfit was inspired by just that! Blake Lively is rocking that combo in her Gossip Girl outfit and looks absolutely adorable. I tried a similar combo (printed shirt, orange necklace, green purse) for a day of errands earlier this week and here's how I did it. I especially loved the idea to pair this busy necklace with a printed shirt - probably something I never would have thought of on my own! :-) Do you wear watermelon colors?

  7. Love the look, although I am curious to see what it would look like with your hot pink shorts. :) I especially love the pop of the bright green bag. So cute!

  8. This made me laugh because I have worn this color combination to work (I'm a teacher) and a girl in my class said "You look like a giant watermelon today!"  The kids have made fun of other things I wear, but I think mostly they are perplexed by anything that isn't an Abercrombie t-shirt and ripped jeans

  9. I've never tried this combo before - in fact, this specific color combo never even occurred to me! I really love how the neon green pops out against the bright red though.  Blake Lively is SUCH an incredible fashion icon - Gossip Girl was one of my favorite shows for a while, the stylists did such a fabulous job!  Great outfit! =D

  10. You look better than Blake!   The colors are beautiful together.   Is the blouse still available from Loft or is it an older purchase?

  11. Why, thank you! :-) I bought the shirt last spring so it's an older purchase.

  13. I really like the idea of a watermelon look :) While I love your interpretation of the outfit, I think I probably would've liked it better if either the shirt or the purse was a less bold color. I think that Blake's muted shirt pairs nicely with the bold green, but when both of your bold colors are together it's a *little* too strong. But, great job, I love your blog!

  14. I'm in love with that shade of green!  I wore watermelon colors while running a 1/2 Marathon once, but I don't think that counts! :P

  16. I love this look J! It is amazing on your skin color, your blonde hair also brightens everything up! Sometimes I am afraid to try things blonde models wear because it will look completely different with brunette hair. I don't ever really see that with your inspiration photos, does it ever just look completely weird? Or do you find hair color doesn't affect your inspiration choices?

  17. Thank you Camille! You know, its funny because I never really consider hair color when I recreate. I always think of me (hair, makeup, skin tone) as a blank canvas for the most part! Might not be the correct way to do it but that's how I roll. :-)
