I've been hunting for a top in this exact shade of blue for over a year now. I finally found it, of all places, at Marshalls last week. I wish it were silk, and I also tried to find a similar option online for you but this t-shirt and this pricey blouse were it. I'll keep trying. :-) I love baby blue paired with orange-red, as seen on the runway (and in several other inspiration photos I have saved). This top would also work with a red-orange skirt, or pants when the weather cools off. Would you wear baby blue + orange red?
Inspiration photo: Harper's Bazaar
Shirt: Marshalls, $13 (t-shirt, pricey blouse)
Shorts: Rewind c/o Kohl's, $10
Belt: H&M, $18
Shoes: Nine West/DSW, $60
you look great, i love your hair like that!

Love that color combination - it looks amazing with your coloring!
ReplyDeleteI would wear the blue & orange together. I would choose shorts because I live in Florida.
ReplyDeleteLove the color combo! I have a question...I have a hard time finding shorts that fit. I wear a size 8/10 and they all look silly on me. I am kind of "hippish" (I'm from NC so I guess that's a country word), but I'm thinking I'm getting the wrong cut. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteLove this color combo! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteJulie, have you tried experimenting with different inseam lengths? Once you figure out what length looks best, it can save you a lot of time shopping - just ask a salesperson or only go for the inseams online that you like the best.
ReplyDeleteApril, the charm on that necklace is from Stella & Dot (was part of a 3-pack) that has been sold out for about a year now!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely wear baby blue and red. Love the outfit.
ReplyDeleteAgi:)

What I love about your style is that I will look at your inspiration photo and think "nah...that doesn't look right." Then I look at your ensemble and think "THAT looks right." Love this look!
ReplyDeleteLove the color combo. Baby blue is one of my favorite colors ever!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can dig up a cheaper blouse option, because I desperately desire that Vince blouse that you linked to. Wish it wasn't $275.:(
I want the Vince blouse too! :-( Piperlime often has drastic cuts on prices, it might go down to $50, ya never know!
ReplyDeleteThis made me chuckle Katie! That is never my intent but funny that it sometimes works out that way! Thank you! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat top, I like the unexpected collar, it's really flattering. And the gorgeous drop necklace with is is just perfection. I think there are so many options how to wear this baby blue top. I also think it would look great with white or grey skinnies.
ReplyDeleteI love the silhouette of your top. It looks like silk even though it isn't.
ReplyDeleteI love baby blue and bright red together and this is how I paired it here this summer: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/07/primary-colours.html I think it is a great colour combo for places that experience hot weather year-round and the summer time in colder places.
this dress is very nice dress. You want this dress you can buy it. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI ALMOST bought a pair of orange red jeans today but I didn't because I couldn't find a shirt I liked to go with them. If I would have seen this before I would have bought a blue shirt to go with them!
ReplyDeleteI bought a similar blouse at TJMaxx in grey for my daughter. She loves it and wishes she had it in multple colors. Love the blue and red!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, you always have great ideas. I noticed that you have some amazing shoes , I was wondering if you can show us just all the shoes you have and maybe give us advise on how to buy shoes so you can wear the with multiple outfits. I always end up buying shoes that I wear couple of times and they don't go with anything else.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this color combo. I wore something similar recently (with a lighter shade of blue) and here's the Polyvore set:

Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey J! I love your blog and LOVED the post on how to not look cheap! I am a recent college grad and just started working at a really laid back company where jeans and tank tops are the norm. I am in the process of looking for a new job, and am wondering what you would wear to a job interview where you don't know the dress requirements? I have a few big interviews coming up and I want to dress to impress! Thanks so much for you blog, SO helpful! :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this combo, although I'm not sure I'd be able to pull it off. But the top is definitely something I'd wear. I found a similar blouse but I'm not sure if you allow u to share other links?
ReplyDeletePS I love the jewelry on stella and dot - currently contemplating a few pieces! So difficult :D
I agree - good idea!
ReplyDeleteI have this same shirt in the red color from TJ Maxx, what would you recommend to wear with it?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty periwinkle blue! Have not tried to color combo but it's very pretty!

I would definitely wear these colors together! I understand the frustration of looking for a top in a particular color. I've been looking for a lavender top (of a particular shade) for so long!
ReplyDeleteOn an unrelated note, will the next episode of your show be available soon? I can't wait!

I second that! I'm so clueless when it comes to knowing what goes with what (e.g., can you wear print shoes with print top or skirt? If your shoes are one or two colors, should you match one or both of those colors to your outfit/accessories? Or should you refrain from that?) Thanks, J!!
ReplyDeleteI really love these two colors together, and with your skin tone they look fabulous! The top you found at marshals was a steal and looks so clean and pretty!

Love your blog J!
ReplyDeleteOld navy has a similar shirt and they have tons more colors in-store and it's really cute on. I just got a mint colored top.

I LOVE the blue and orange/red combo. I make jewely, and I have a bracelet to match I made for this summer. Really like the combination. I don't follow to many bloggers, but you have my attention now. I like your still, wish I had hadit when I was in my 20's and just staring out, would have been great having your advice then. I can still use a few tips thou. So keep them coming. :) Thanks, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThank you Brenda!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I just bought a baby blue shirt to go with an orange skirt. I spent so much time on your site and the rest of the internet trying to figure out what to pair with the skirt. I guess I figured it out on my own. I bought my shirt 2 days before your post :)
ReplyDeleteI like it. But I like to wear it with shorts. I like to wear only bracelets and watch with the outfit. I don’t feel high heel show will work great rather I like to go with a plain sandal.
ReplyDeleteThe color of your "baby blue" top............ (or of American Apparel's "baby blue" T-Shirt; or of Piperlime's pricey "blue sky" blouse, i.e., as you linked, Above, to both of these items)............ is just gorgeous!! I was trying to think of a color that............ The Blue Of Our Creator's Sky............ DIDN'T really "go with," and I honestly couldn't think of ANY; (or at least some shade of every color)!!
ReplyDeleteSo - (given that) - maybe then the *p.e.r.f.e.c.t.* accessory FOR your new Marshall's baby blue top, J. ............ just MIGHT be............ a "candy apple red" metallic flake convertible (haha!!), e.g., such as this third-car-down!!:

Rosanna, you are so creative! I love how much you think outside the box when it comes to fashion. Thanks as always for adding your creative spin on today's outfit!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue and red. Seriously one of my favorite color combinations. www.dreamboatfashion.com
ReplyDeleteJust bought this shirt :) Found mine for $10. Woo hoo! Love a bargain...
ReplyDeleteI just wore my baby blue shirt with army green shorts, and loved the look. I added a stone necklace with tan, white and green stones
