Monday night I spoke at a UCF class on entrepreneurial marketing and this is what I wore. I wish I was exaggerating when I say I had 5 minutes to get dressed. This J.Crew photo popped into my head as I was searching through my closet, and I decided to put two different yellows together (UCF gold?). I added my new orange necklace (a birthday present from my friends Amanda and Natalie!), and shades of brown which gave it an autumn vibe. If you don't love yellow you could always try this trick with two different shades of green, blue, pink or red. Would you ever wear yellow with yellow?

I really love the gold with yellow! Looks so pretty and the orange necklace looks great with it too! Monochromatic looks are just classic!

Wow! What a bold outfit. I really like how the outfit looks on you! I love how you styled it with a bold coral piece, while keeping all your other accessories neutral.
ReplyDeletePS. I'd really love it if you could write an article about successful blogging =) I'm fairly new to the blogosphere, and I'd love to get some advice! =D

LOVE this look; the tobacco colored pumps and bag really make the orange and yellows work. You look absolutely lovely and to have done this in five minutes is truly a feat! :)

You look great and love the necklace.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried pairing yellow and yellow together but recently I did paired fuschis together here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/08/summer-attire-fuschia-pairing.html
and really like the result.
Love that you only had 5 minutes to pull a look together and you look like you spent an hour picking this out! Love the tone on tone (and that bag is amazing!)
ReplyDeleteHope your takl went well :)

That looks great, the necklace really pops. I totally bought that yellow/mustard cord skirt from Old Navy yesterday :-)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is fun. I like the monochrome every now and then

Love this! I don't know as a blonde that the yellow on yellow would look good on me, but i could do the blue or red easily :)
ReplyDeleteLove the necklace your friends got you, I have been looking for a similar necklace for a long time. Do you know where they got it?

Hi - great post! I think I would be too afraid to wear that bold of a color from head to toe, but it looks fantastic on you. On a completely different topic I am attending a fall wedding at the beginning of October and wonder if you have any tips for what kind of dress I should be looking for?
ReplyDelete(You inspired me to buy a pair of skinny ankle pants)
Love the bright color of the skirt!
ReplyDeleteLove tone on tone! A little tricky to pull off but makes such a huge statement. Looks so cute! My favorite color to do this with is blue and teal. Love your blog! Check us out at www.dreamboatfashion.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLove this color on you J!

I love this gold/yellow mix of colors on you! The necklace really stands out and I think this look is great on you, i could not pull this off, but you sure can!

Woo hoo! I love the new price, updated the post. Thank you for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteThey got the necklace at a local Orlando boutique. I believe Red Dress Boutique online sells very similar ones though!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually wearing white on white today! I don't think I could pull off a color the same way though...
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimberly! I have written a couple how-to blogging posts, check them out at the top of my "Table of Contents" section.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! I would do a sheath dress in a fall color like burgundy, black or a dark purple and add a fun statement necklace!
ReplyDeleteMust be a yellow kind of day... I just ordered this LOFT sweater online--on sale for $25. A yellow cardi has been on my list of wants!

I prefer your look to the Jcrew one! I am not sure I could pull this off, but you do!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
ReplyDeleteI like it! Yellow is one of my favorite colors but I don't have much of it in my closet. I'm working on it though! I can't believe I tweeted you this same necklace this morning and it is in your post today! I love the way you wore it (and the fact that you have it so now I can get ideas on how to wear it!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea - I'm open to tone on tone, but nervous about yellow.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't think that I'd like this outfit. I can't stand yellow and orange makes me cringe...but it works! Great with the brown bag. Might make me rethink those colors.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! I personally love shades of yellow, although it's definitely a hard color to pull off.
ReplyDeleteLove this tone on tone use did with mustard! The trend is a fav of mine this season.
ReplyDeletelove that necklace with that outfit....!

Not gonna lie, this color scares me but you rock it! I also have your necklace with white and orange beads and I love it :)
ReplyDeleteI just love both of these particular shades of yellow~~~*t.o.g.e.t.h.e.r.*~~~on you!! Your mustard-yellow sweater not only complements your skin tone very well; but it also really "draws out" the lovely blonde shades in your hair............ (i.e., probably - on both counts - much more than, say, the model's pale lemon-yellow top in the Inspiration Photo would)!!
ReplyDeleteYour golden-yellow skirt continues the effect of "drawing out" the blondeness of your hair; yet it's CLOSE enough in shade............ (i.e., to your mustard-yellow sweater)............ to not be "jarring" TO your Total Outfit Look, though!!
Interestingly, both the model's outfit in the Inspiration Photo; and also your outfit have a "golden-yellow piece" in common, i.e., the model's pants in the Inspiration Photo are a golden-yellow; and your skirt is a golden-yellow, too. However, the model's lemon-yellow top seems to "work better" with her (paler) ivory skin tone............ whereas your mustard-yellow sweater seems to "work better" with your (darker) naturallly-tan skin tone!!
'Just knockout-*G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.* styling again, J.!! (Now I think I'll just go fix myself............ a glass of LEMONade, haha!!)
Your fashion are very good looking. I like your fashion so much. I like the yellow color so much.
ReplyDeleteI love Mustard. Especially for the fall. You totally rock it!! Check out my mustard and mint on my blog! Thanks for letting me stop by
