Today's Everyday Fashion: A New Way

At first glance, this tribal skirt is perfect for a night out - it's short, it's stretchy and it looks great with heels. But the inspiration photo opened my eyes to an alternate way of wearing it. I love the idea of a miniskirt with a half-tucked denim shirt and flat shoes! I'm not sure I would ever opt to run errands in this look (shorts or jeans are more comfy), but I would wear this for lunch with friends, or a casual night out. Where would you wear this look?

I really like the combo of the printed skirt with the shirt.  I agree it would be nice for a casual night out.

  2. A really great look. I especially love that you wear flats with it. I think I would wear this look to a lunch date with friends.

  3. I would totally wear this during the day!  I would wear it to do some window shopping downtown with my girlfriends.

J, you are so fabulous and inspiring!  You inspired me to start my own blog.  I was extremely hesitant because my style is more everyday also.  I'm definitely not a model, don't have a photographer boyfriend and don't have a huge clothing budget.  Thank you for being so real.

  6. I love the way it looks with a chambray top! I think i would wear this during the day with a plain tee, a blazer and flats/flat sandals ONLY because it is always looked as a "night" piece.

I like the untucked shirt.  Looks fab!

  8. I love this outfit! I went a little crazy this spring with the denim/chambray shirts and now I own 4 of them! They are so versatile. Dress them up or dress them down. Definitely a staple piece.

Love it Sarah! I'm thinking about getting another denim shirt myself, I love the 1st option from F21.

  10. This is the best way I have seen a denim shirt styled! I usually think denim shirts look dated but this is a cute way to wear one! P.s. I discovered your blog on pintrest and I love it! You are inspiring me to look at my own closet differently and shop with a new perspective :)

Thank you for this! This makes me happy b/c I believe the fashion media needs more girls just like you! I really hope someday we can see more examples of real women in media, showing what they wear to their jobs and in their daily lives. Models and fantasy fashion are great, but I want little girls to know that's not the only option for them. :-)

  12. I love the half tucked shirt!  Really adds a different feel the skirt.  I guess we're lucky because as bloggers we can wear looks like this to work.x
